How to add a background, padding and shadow to a screenshot on Mac
Export with Frame places a screenshot on a background with padding, rounded corners and a shadow, then copies, saves or shares the result. It is a choice you make per export, never applied silently.

Export a screenshot with a frame
- Select the screenshot in the CloudShots history panel, then press ⇧⌘E, or open the Export menu in Quick Look and choose Export with Frame….
- In the sheet, preview the result and choose the background, the padding, the corners and the shadow.
- Copy, Save… or Share… the rendered image. CloudShots remembers the last style you used.
What you can choose
- Background: none, light, dark or one of four gradients.
- Padding: small, medium or large.
- Corners: none, small or large.
- A shadow.
How it behaves
- Copy, drag-out and Export Image stay unframed. Only Export with Frame adds the background.
- Redactions stay baked in, so a redacted screenshot exports redacted.
- On a light, dark or gradient background, the export carries a small, quiet CloudShots wordmark in the bottom padding. With no background the export has no wordmark, and the original file is never marked.
- File names follow your filename template in Settings.
- It is also available from the Share menu on iPhone and iPad.
The limits
- The option is hidden for locked and view-only screenshots.
- The sheet offers the fixed choices above, not free-form colors or sizes.
